Lumby Spending $3-Million on Capital Projects

The Village of Lumby will be undertaking nearly three million dollars in capital spending projects this coming year.

The new budget introduced outlines replacement of aging equipment, work on the Salmon Trail, flood mitigation work and upgrades to the cemetery as some of the projects planned according to Mayor Kevin Acton.

“There’s two whole pages of projects or capital expenditures and special projects that will be fulfilled this year with this budget that is coming out.”

Taxpayers will see virtually no change to their bills to cover any of the work with the tax hike being held to 1.18% this year.

Acton says staff have done well to keep their pencils sharp and spending in check.

“You know we are trying to be responsible and stay within what the country is doing so we are looking at CPI. We’re looking at growth. We’re sort of adding all that stuff together and coming up with a mix that works for everybody.”

Public consultation dates on the budget will be released within the next two weeks.
