1.3% Challenge Assessments

Almost 99 percent of BC property owners are satisfied with their latest assessments.

Stephanie Pound from BC Assessment says 1.38 percent of the 2 million properties evaluated for 2017, have filed appeals.

“The total number of the properties appealing is 27,887,” Pound tells Kiss FM.

Pound says the appeal number is higher than last year (1.2%), but is below 2 percent for the sixth straight year.

“Generally it is between one and two percent, and it is well below the two percent this year.”

The Okanagan’s figures won’t be available until March.

The value of all real estate on BC’s assessment roll this year is 1.6 trillion dollars, up 25% from last year.
