Alcohol Suspected In Crash

Alcohol is thought to be a factor in a two vehicle crash on Highway 6 in Coldstream.

It took place around 11 pm Wednesday just east of Aberdeen Rd.

“A red Chevrolet pickup truck was headed west when it crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Kenworth dump truck. The pickup veered off the road and ended up on it’s roof,” says RCMP Cst. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

The 50 year old male driver, and lone occupant of the pickup truck, and the 26 year old male driver and his 49 year old male passenger in the dump truck were all uninjured in this collision.

“During the officers interaction with the driver of the pickup at the collision scene, they detected signs of possible alcohol intoxication. As a result a demand was made of the driver to provided samples of his breath roadside,” says Noseworthy.

The pickup driver was issued a three day Immediate Roadside Prohibition.

The pickup truck was impounded and the dump truck was towed due to damages.

Noseworthy tells Kiss FM, impaired charges are not being investigated.

“No, it’s one or the other. The investigators on scene went by way of IRP. No criminal code impaired charges can be laid in this matter,” says the constable.
