Lineup Shaping Up for Military Tattoo

Feb 14, 2017 | 9:16 AM

The lineup of bands taking part in the 4th annual Okanagan Military Tattoo is starting to take shape.
There won’t be an international entry like the South Korean one last year…but President Norm Crerar says they have a very impressive band headlining from Alberta.
“The biggest band is the Calgary Round-Up Show Band with 150 youth. It is summer of course and they are off school, so they are going to be here for sure.”
There may not be an international act this year, but work is underway to get one for next year.
“Nothing this year, but we are working for 2018.  We are working on some European groups that we’re are on their hit list.  They say they will let us know as soon as they can because they know we want them to come there.”
The RCMP Pipe band is coming back, along with 4 other pipe bands from the Okanagan and Interior.  It’s also hoped the Royal Canadian Navy band can participate and fit this date into their calendar.
Crerar says heading into their 4th year, the tattoo is being recognized as a key summertime event in our area.
“The Okanagan Military Tattoo is one of three finalists in the Chamber of Commerce Excellence Awards, so we’ll know where we are in that on the 10th of March.”
This year’s Tattoo takes place this July 29th & 30th.
