Windshield Rock Chips Repaired for Free in BC

Feb 9, 2017 | 7:17 AM

Transportation Minister Todd Stone has announced a break for vehicle owners who experience annoying stone and rock chips on their windshields.

Stone says starting this spring, those who carry ICBC’s optional comprehensive coverage will get stone chips repaired for free before they become cracks and a whole windshield needs replacing.

Stone says the current costs are too high.

“To get that windshield replaced it’s going to cost you your deductible of somewhere between $20 and $250 depending on your vehicle or the deductible could be higher.”
“We will now be covering 100 per cent of the cost to repair a rock chip so that the entire windshield does not have to be replaced.  There will be no deductible and it will be a free service for motorists.”

Stone says about 80 per cent of BC vehicle owners carry comprehensive coverage and would qualify.
