High Avalanche Hazards & Travel Advisories In Effect!

Feb 9, 2017 | 5:25 AM

Heavy snowfall overnight has left high avalanche hazard conditions in all the high mountain passes.
Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton and west of Creston is closed by the hazard and for avalanche control.
The Coquihalla is open…but a severe weather warning is in effect with heavy snow mixed with rain or freezing rain expected and up to 70 cm. of snow predicted.

The Trans Canada Highway is closed from Yale to Lytton due to the high avalanche hazard.

Travel advisories and severe weather warnings are also in effect for the #1 from Kamloops to the Alberta border…with up to 30 cm. of snow expected by the time this current winter storm passes.

Warming temperatures are also expected to make conditions slippery and slushy…as snow turns to rain. Driving with caution is advised.

Check with the Drive BC website before heading out.
