Region Grows by 3.8%

The population in the North Okanagan has gone up 3.8% in the last five years.
The 2016 Census says there was 84,354 residents in the North Okanagan, up by 3,117 from 2011.
Vernon was up 5 percent to 40,116.
Greater Vernon — which includes Coldstream, BX and Swan Lake — grew by 4.7% to 61,334.
Canada’s population is 35.15 million people.
That’s an increase of five per cent, or 1.7-million people from 2011.
Stats Canada says Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, the three biggest cities, have a combined population of 12.5-million and are home to more than one-third of all Canadians.
BC’s population grew by 5.6 per cent to 4.6 million.
