Power Outage At College

Aug 10, 2017 | 12:26 PM

The power will be going out at Okanagan College’s Vernon campus Friday (Aug. 11) from noon to 4 pm.

“BC Hydro will shut down the power to all campus buildings during this time,” says OC’s public affairs director Allan Coyle.

The outage is to allow for electrical work for the new six million dollar trades facilities under construction.

“Arrangements have been made for alternate classrooms on campus for Camp OC, which will remain operational,” says Coyle.  “Existing external room rentals will also be accommodated. It is advised that those who have scheduled activities on campus Friday afternoon contact the Vernon switchboard at 250-545-7291 to confirm classroom locations.”

The College’s emergency generator will be operating, and critical IT Services components, essential power, and life safety systems will not be affected.
