Small grass fire self-extinguished south of Vernon  

Local firefighters also responded to a small grass fire that required little action Thursday.

Vernon Fire Rescue Services were called out for reports of a fire off Commonage Road shortly before 1 p.m. July 2.

The fire had largely self-extinguished by the time fire crews arrived, and the responding firefighters extinguished the remaining hot spots.

The fire burned an area roughly 40 by 400 feet in size.

The fire came a day after a grass and brush fire off the Rail Trail in Coldstream.
