Swim Advisory lifted for Tugboat Bay

Jul 2, 2026 | 4:32 PM

People can once again take a dip at Tugboat Bay.

The swim advisory issued for Rotary Beach at Waterfront Park was lifted Thursday after the City of Kelowna and Interior Health tested the water and found the quality requirements had been met.

The advisory was issued after a higher than acceptable E-coli count was recorded at the beach, which increased the risk of people becoming ill if they entered the water.

The city said water quality at area beaches can fluctuate due to a number of factors, and asked people to do their part to preserve the water quality by not feeding birds, ducks or geese; not letting dogs swim other than at designated dog beaches; not littering; changing diapered children in bathroom facilities, not on the beach; only disposing of boat sewage at onshore sanitary facilities; washing hands with soap and water after using the toilet or changing diapers; and not swimming when suffering from diarrhea.
