OK College Working Through Tuition Fee Drop For Adult Education

Aug 9, 2017 | 6:25 AM

Officials at Okanagan College aren’t sure what impact free adult basic education programs will have on their numbers.

The BC government is getting rid of those fees, which max-out at 16-hundred dollars per semester.

OC’s Public Affairs director Allan Coyle says they’ve had grant programs since 2015 to support students that need help.

“And we’d done our level best with the help of our instructors for sure to get the message out that don’t let the tuition fees frighten you off. Come and talk to us because there is financial aid available.”

Coyle says the College will get to work right away to ensure the program is ready.

“We’re working through this of course as quickly as we can and what we know is domestic students who are starting adult basic education in the fall will not be paying tuition fees. We’ll make that happen.”

About 17-hundred students were enrolled in adult basic courses this past year.
