Mission A Cool Place For Homeless

Vernon’s Upper Room Mission is making sure the homeless are taken care of in this heat.

Executive Director Lisa Anderson says they have a special area that’s available when temperatures rise.

“Usually when it gets over 29 degrees, our outreach department opens up Charlotte’s Place, which is ion our basement. It’s a cool space, people can come downstairs and cool off. We have drinks, water, snacks available and people can just come and get out of the heat.”

The Mission is open until 8pm Monday through Thursday.
