Opening date clearer as new Active Living Centre set for testing
A more precise timeline for the opening of Vernon’s new recreation hub has been disclosed.
During a special tour of the Active Living Centre (ALC), Wednesday, Dustin Suurhoff, Project Executive at Clark Builders, said the facility should be substantially completed, meaning it’s ready for it’s intended use, by October 30.
“That means all of the life-safety measures are complete. So we’ve got sprinkler systems working, we’ve got H-VAC working, the lights are all working, we have emergency response capabilities in place, and then on the exterior we would have asphalt complete and the parking lots done,” Suurhoff explained.
“There’s going to be be some items that will fall outside of ‘substantial completion’. Some seasonal items there’s going to potentially be some deficiencies that we’ll be cleaning up, but the idea is the building will be ready for it’s intended use come October 30.”
