A Kelowna private college is launching a new diploma aimed at preparing students for entry-level careers in law enforcement, corrections, border security and community safety.

Taylor Pro College announced Wednesday that applications are open for its 52-week Law Enforcement Foundations and Security Diploma.

The 1,040-hour program includes 22 courses covering topics such as criminal and civil law, criminology, the Canadian criminal justice system, investigations and evidence, police powers and authority, conflict management and Canadian border security.

The program combines classroom instruction with simulation-based learning and is available in person, online and through a hybrid format. New intakes are scheduled every two weeks at the college’s Kelowna campus.

The program was reviewed and approved by the registrar of B.C.’s Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit, which operates under the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

The diploma expands Taylor Pro College’s existing programs in areas including business administration, information technology, hospitality and tourism, office administration and driver training.
