Vital Vote 2026

Local election candidates answer series of questions for public information

Oct 1, 2026 | 12:02 PM

Voters wanting to know their municipal candidates’ stances on key issues have a new resource to access.

Community Foundation North Okanagan (CFNO) has released the results of its Vital Voting 2026 questionnaire.

The non-partisan candidate questionnaire asked a series of questions involving the economy, environment, healthcare, culture and social issues. A total of 61 mayor, councillor, RDNO Director and School District 22 Trustee candidates from Vernon, Coldstream, Armstrong, Spallumcheen, Enderby, and Area F provided answers to the questionnaire, which can be viewed online here.

“Local government shapes so much of daily life, from housing to parks to the services our neighbours rely on,” Leanne Hammond, executive director of CFNO, stated.

“Vital Vote gives every voter in the region a simple way to see where their candidates stand before they mark their ballot. Whatever community you live in, the answers are in one place.”

The Vital Vote questions were developed by volunteers in consultation with experts in each area issue.

CFNO also encouraged people to fill out the entire ballot when casting votes for mayor, council, directors and school trustees in the local general election Oct. 17.
