Area properties moving back to Duteau Creek water source

Some Greater Vernon Water customers are being moved back off the Antwerp Deep Well source.

Over the summer, Greater Vernon Water (GVW) switched water sources from Duteau Creek to the Well for properties in the Coldstream and Lavington areas in order to conserve water during the drought.

Agricultural irrigation water use will end Friday and water demand has declined, allowing those properties to be moved back to their water source.

The switch was scheduled to start Thursday, with GVW stating water quality will be regularly monitored, though because of low flows in the system people may not see a change in quality for several days.

GVW also stated the well worked in providing a secondary water source for the system over the summer and remains available as an approved emergency backup source if needed.
