Entrepreneur entering race for Enderby City Council

An involved community member and entrepreneur is throwing his hat in the ring for a seat on Enderby City Council.

Ryan Sheepwash announced he will run in the fall municipal election.

“Over the years I’ve learned that the best communities are built by people who are willing to get involved, listen to each other, share ideas and actually show up when there is work to be done,” Sheepwash said in announcing his candidacy on social media.

“That’s exactly what I want to bring to City Council.

“I’m not running because I think I have all the answers. I’m running because I care about Enderby, I love talking to people, I’m not afraid to ask questions, and I’m definitely not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get involved.”

The candidate’s platform has six key focuses:

Supporting local business and economic growth by creating an environment where local businesses can succeed and more people are encouraged to shop, work and invest in Enderby
A clean, healthy Shuswap River that is protected and cared for so it remains clean, healthy and enjoyable for the community and future generations
A stronger, more connected community with supports for the organizations, volunteers, events and community initiatives that brings Enderby together
Smarter, safer transportation in the form of improved safety on the roads with better education around e-bikes, safer highway planning and smart traffic solutions
Listen, communicate and work together by being accessible and listening to residents in order to consider different perspectives and communicate openly about decisions that affect the community
Making a safer community for everyone by working towards a community where people feel safe walking at night and going about their daily lives without worry

Sheepwash is president of Transition Marketing Services, a volunteer Event Director for the North Okanagan Hospice Society, and member of the Enderby Legion.

Votes will be cast for the local general election October 17.
