Improved communications

New RDNO website receives accolade

The Regional District of North Okanagan’s new website has only been online a few months, but it’s already an award winner

The site, that launched in November 2021, received a Gold AVA Digital Award. The international competition recognizes excellence by creative professionals responsible for the planning, concept, direction, design, and production of digital communication.

RDNO said its previous website had not been refreshed since 2012, which left it lacking modern functionality and design. In 2021,the local government reviewed and revised all of the content on over 270 web pages, reorganized the structure, and added features to enhance the user experience.

RDNO staff say despite the pandemic and the 2021 wildfire season occurring in tandem with the project, the RDNO completed the overhaul on time and under budget.

“The new website significantly improves our ability to communicate effectively with residents and stakeholders,” said Ashley Gregerson, communications officer, RDNO.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition from the digital creative industry and thank the board of directors for their continued support for the implementation of the RDNO communications plan,” said Gregerson.

The RDNO worked with the digital agency, Upanup, to complete the redevelopment.

Some of the new features include improved navigation and search, dedicated web pages that outline the services each member community receives from the RDNO, and a grants portal. View the website at www.rdno.ca.
