Ron MacLean, the host of Hockey Night in Canada, has been part of Hometown Hockey since the beginning and he says he never tires of being a part of this program each week.
“It’s a really important show because of the way it showcases the grass roots because of the stories it tells.  I look at it, I’m sad we’re getting to the half way point and we are almost done the year.”
MacLean also likes the fact the show will showcase the rich hockey history of the Vernon area.
“It’s always been a great, great hockey hub. So that will be it.  We have a couple of neat stories and Dean McAmmond, Brent Gilchrist, Kirk Mclean and Russ Courtnall are there.  It’ll be a lot of nice people to talk to and swap stories.”

MacLean says he also loves being part of this show because it helps bring the NHL to smaller communities around the country.

“We bring some of those names you have watched Saturday nights and in the playoffs, we bring them to town and people can see that they are just really good souls who love the game just like they do. It makes the NHL a first hand experience for them which I really love about it.”
There are lots of family friendly activities that are free both days.
The show goes live from City Hall Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
