Update: Trans Canada Reopens After Deadly Crash

RCMP say a multi-vehicle accident on the Trans Canada Highway has claimed the life of a 51-year-old man from B.C.

The crash occurred east of Revelstoke, and the route had been closed for about 7 hours — but reopened just after 4:30.

The victim was driving a semi that was hit by an oncoming semi and caught fire.

A third semi and an SUV were also involved, with two people suffering serious injuries.

UPDATE: 11:30 a.m.

A multi-vehicle collision has closed the Trans Canada Highway in both directions between Revelstoke and Golden.

RCMP are telling people caught in the lineups that the #1 will not be re-opened again until at least 7 p.m. tonight.

There is no word yet on the extent of injuries to those involved or how many peope have been injured, but there crash is very serious in nature.
