Civic Sounds returns to downtown

Civic Sounds returns to downtown

May 22, 2019 | 8:00 AM

Civic Sounds will be making a return to downtown Vernon this summer.

The free outdoor concert series at Civic Plaza will be held every Thursday evening in July and August.

The Downtown Vernon Association which is organizing the event, says the schedule of entertainment includes the Shawn Lightfoot Band, the Legendary Lake Monsters, the Dirt Road Kings and more.

“We brought back many crowd favourites while mixing in a couple of new ones like reggae roots group, Chipko Jones,” says Dudley Coulter, DVA Events & Marketing Coordinator. “It’s a great way to spend a weekday evening, by enjoying some live music followed by dinner or some drinks at a downtown restaurant.”

The first concert will be July 4 with Shades of Grey.

The DVA, along with sponsors like 107.5 Beach Radio, are hoping to raise $5,000 through donations, for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Other sponsors are City of Vernon, Bannister Honda, ValleyFirst Credit Union and all members of the DVA.
