Hearing Set For Shooting Suspect

May 15, 2019 | 1:31 PM

A suspect in a Vernon shooting case that left a man dead, will be the subject of a preliminary hearing later this year.

Clayton Alan Williams, born in 1991, is facing seven charges.

“All offences are alleged to have occurred on February 8, 2019 at or near Coldstream,” says Dan McLaughlin from the B.C. Prosecution Service.

“Offences include break and enter with intent at a dwelling house at 9878 Park Lane, two charges of discharging a firearm with intent to wound, reckless discharge of a firearm, using a firearm while committing the break and enter, pointing a firearm and having his face masked while committing an offence.”

A preliminary inquiry to review Crown evidence in the case will be held Dec. 9-11 in Vernon provincial court.

On February 8, 2019, a man died in a hotel parking lot on 27th Street after being shot, which police said may have started with a violent break and enter earlier that morning at a home on Park Lane in Lavington.

RCMP have not released information about how or where Williams was arrested, but court documents show his first court appearance on these charges was in Abbotsford on Feb. 27.
