Group Looks For Drink Drugger

Feb 28, 2017 | 5:23 PM

Volunteers will be hanging out in Vernon area pubs and night-spots this weekend, looking for evidence of someone drugging drinks.

Organizer Tylor Herold is not naming the establishments, but he’s heard of several recent incidents.

“I’ve had three people over the weekend that have contacted me and people I know that felt their drinks had been drugged, and it wasn’t just women,” says Herold.

Herold says a male friend of his, who he says is “seasoned in drug use” felt “wired and speedy” after one drink, while a woman got dizzy, passed out, and ended up in hospital.

“It’s almost like it’s experimental. It’s really concerning. It happened in two different places.”

Herold hopes with people watching at four local pubs, the person doing it will be deterred.

“We’re going to hang out between 10 pm and 2 am Friday and Saturday and just kind of stay sober in these places and have a look-out. Hopefully the word will get out to the person who is doing this, and it will deter them from attempting to do this.”

Herold has organized the effort through his Facebook page.

“I’ve had about 15 people from the page reach out to me, and then the club I’m with, we got another 15, so we’ve got about 30 and we can cover the four main hot spots.”

Herold is not aware of any of the impacted people going to police.
