They gave it everything they had.

The Vernon Vipers saw their BC Hockey League season come to an end Friday night after losing 2-1 in overtime to the Penticton Vees at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The Vees won the second round BC Hockey League series 4 games to one.

Thomas Pichette won it for the Vees, beating Ethan David in the Vipers net 42 seconds into overtime before a crowd of 2,308 in the Peach City.

The Vipers gave it everything they had, getting their only goal from Vernon product Erik Pastro early in the third period, a lead they held until Larry Keenan scored for the Vees with 1:58 left in regulation time.

David was the Vipers player of the game, facing 40 shots in his final junior game, while Vernon managed 15 shots on Penticton goalie Will Ingemann.

The Vees will meet the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the Interior Conference final.

The Silverbacks defeated the West Kelowna Warriors 6-2 Friday, to win that series 4 games to 1.
