Vipers and Vees to meet in next round of BCHL playoffs, later start time for games

The Vernon Vipers will take on the Penticton Vees in the second round of the BC Hockey League playoffs starting this weekend in the South Okanagan.

The matchup will feature the #1 seeded Vees against the #4 Vipers with the #2 West Kelowna Warriors taking on the #3 Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the other Interior Conference semi final.

West Kelowna made it to the second round with a 5-1 win over the Cranbrook Bucks in game 7 of their first round series Tuesday night.

Due to the Esso Cup Women’s Under 18 hockey tournament at Kal Tire Place April 21-27, the game times for games 3 and 4 of the Vipers-Vees series on April 23 and 24 will be pushed back from the normal 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

“Due to the circumstances out of our control, we understand that this schedule is not ideal,” Vipers executive vice-president Todd Miller said. “However, we understand how big this event is for our community and are in full support.We will be cheering on the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers and their quest for a national championship. We appreciate the understanding of our fans and corporate partners.”

Tickets for games 3 and 4 go on sale Wednesday, April 17 at 10 a.m. Season ticket holders have until 12 p.m. on game day to reserve their seat before it released to the general public.

The Vipers office is open for ticket sales 9-4 Tuesday-Friday, the Kal Tire Place Box Office will be open Saturday and Sunday 9-4.
