B.C. saw another rise in COVID-19 cases Tuesday.

The province reported 150 cases, 95 of which were in Interior Health (63.3 per cent).

Provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, told a news conference earlier today that about 95 per cent of the new COVID cases are unvaccinated residents or people with just one dose of a vaccine.

There are 783 active cases in the province with 44 people in hospital and 22 in intensive care.

No new deaths have been reported since Monday with the total at 1,768.

The increase in COVID cases is impacting businesses in downtown Kelowna as several restaurants and bars have temporarily shut down due to positive cases.

Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon is closed until Aug. 4 due to two staff cases.

Vernon Matters has reached out to Interior Health for information on why case numbers are much higher than the other four health regions.

The new/active cases include:

* 32 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 196

* 17 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 122

* 95 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 412

* three new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 14

* three new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 35

* no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: four

More than 6.6 million COVID vaccines have gone into arms in B.C., with 80.7 per cent (3,742,081) of eligible people 12 and older getting one dose and 62.3 per cent (2,887,730) receiving two doses.

In addition, 81.7 per cent of all eligible adults have had their first shot and 65.3 per cent have had two.
