City of Kelowna hiring 300 workers for 2026 municipal election

The City of Kelowna is looking for about 300 people to help run the 2026 municipal election this October.

Paid positions are available for advance voting days on Oct. 7, 10, 14, 15 and 16, as well as general voting day on Oct. 17.

Election workers will help with tasks including registering voters, issuing ballots, supporting voting machines and helping residents through the voting process.

The city is hiring for three roles, with pay ranging from $320 to $550 per day. Some positions require previous election experience, while entry-level Election Official roles do not.

All workers must complete mandatory training and will receive an additional $50 training allowance.

Kelowna Chief Election Officer Michael Jud says the jobs are a way for residents to get involved and see how local elections work.

“Working as an election official is a great way to get involved locally and gain first-hand experience with how elections work,” Jud said.

Applications are open until Aug. 11 through the City of Kelowna’s website.

The city says for the first time in a municipal election, it will use the provincial voters list, allowing registered voters to check in faster at voting locations.
