B.C. Covid update: 125 new cases

The Fraser and Vancouver Coastal health regions continue to see the majority of new COVID-19 cases in B.C.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, announced 125 new cases on Wednesday, with two of those in Interior Health, two in Island Health and 3 in Northern Health.

All the rest were in the Lower Mainland.

There are 1,284 active cases in the province (21 in Interior Health), 3,202 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases and 7,591 people who tested positive from COVID have recovered.

There are 72 people in hospital with the virus, 21 of whom are in intensive care.

There have been no new COVID-19 related deaths, keeping B.C.’s total at 234.

There have been no new health-care facility or community outbreaks.

According to Interior Health, there have been no Covid exposure incidents in Okanagan schools.

IH says the only schools in the region that have had incidents are in Invermere, Castlegar and Rossland.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 3,340 cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 4,658 in the Fraser Health region, 208 in the Island Health region, 533 in the  Interior Health region, 312 in the Northern Health region and 87 cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
