B.C. Covid update Monday: 267 new cases

B.C. reporting 267 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend.

That includes 68 cases from Friday to Saturday, 125 from Saturday to Sunday and 74 cases from Sunday to Monday.

B.C.’s overall total is now 8,908 cases.

The Interior Health (IH) region has 9 new cases, five of those connected to an outbreak at the Calvary Chapel Church in Kelowna.

There are 1,302 active cases in BC, with 69 people in hospital, and 22 in critical or intensive care.

One person is in hospital in IH with 28 active cases.

There are three new deaths from COVID-19, one each in the Vancouver Coastal, Fraser and Island health regions for a total of 233.

A total of 3,372 people under active health monitoring due to exposure to known COVID cases.

Provincial Health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry urged residents to “take a step back from social interactions.”

“I’m asking you to travel less, to see fewer people, to stay with your household, and your safe six, and connect with the other people in your life virtually,” stated Henry at Monday’s COVID update.
