Vipers drop final game before break

The Vernon Vipers closed out the first half of their BCHL season with a 4-1 loss to the Trail Smoke Eaters before 1,683 fans at Kal Tire Place Wednesday.

Cam MacDonald scored his 10th goal of the season on the powerplay and James Porter Jr. stopped 31 of 34 shots for the Vipers.

Kent Johnson led the Smokies with a goal and one assist.

The Vipers fell to 19-14-1-1 and are now off until Dec. 28 when they will host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
