Walk For ALS September 9th.

Aug 23, 2017 | 7:04 AM

The ALS Society of BC is gearing up for its annual Walk for ALS.

This year’s Walk in Vernon will be held on Saturday September 9, 2017 at Polson Park.

The Walk will start at 11AM, with check-in at 10AM.

Everyone is invited and welcome to join this family friendly event.

You are encouraged to register as an individual or team on-line to avoid lineups at the registration table, and to save administration costs.

The 5km walk gives people the chance to raise funds and awareness for those living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and their families.

Leading up to the event, walkers collect pledges from family, friends, and colleagues who wish to sponsor them.

On the day of the Walk, participants can enjoy various activities organized by the volunteers.

“The Walk for ALS across Canada is the signature event to raise awareness and funds for patient services for people living with ALS, and the Canadian ALS Research Program,” says Wendy Toyer, Executive Director of the ALS Society of BC.

“The impact is twofold; aside from raising funds and awareness, this event empowers people affected by ALS-the patients, families, friends, caregivers, and health care professionals-to take back some of what ALS has taken away.”

The Participation 150 Playlist entourage will be in attendance and includes 4 activity tents for all to enjoy.

The Vernon Walk is activity #19 on the Playlist!

Proceeds from the Walk for ALS go to the ALS Society of BC to provide support for people living with ALS and to invest in research to make the disease treatable not terminal.
