Update: Highway Re-opened After Semi Crash

Update: 6 am

Highway 97A near Sicamous was closed for several hours Tuesday after a crash.

A transport truck tipped on its side along Mara Lake, blocking both lanes, about 5 km’s south of Sicamous.

The incident also took down some power lines, cutting power to over 600 customers.

That’s been restored and the highway reopened about mid-evening.

Motorists had to take Highway 97B to Salmon Arm and Highway 1 as a detour.

Update: 5 pm

Drive BC says the estimated time of opening is unavailable with next update at 7 pm.

Update 4 pm:

Highway 97A near Sicamous has been closed for several hours after a crash.

2 pm:

Highway 97 near Sicamous is closed in both directions due to a crash.

The site is 5 km’s south of Sicamous along Mara Lake.

It’s not known when the highway could reopen, with Drive BC saying another update will be issued by 5 pm.
