Parking Lot Upgrade Done
The Vernon Curling Club has a new parking lot.
The City says work on the upgrade is wrapping up on time and on budget.
It will reopen Wednesday (Aug. 23) in time for an antique and outdoor show at the Recreation Centre this weekend.
“The overall project included the replacement of the blacktop surface and substrate, the replacement of sidewalks on the north end of the Vernon Recreation Centre, replacement of the existing 1966 water main that runs through the parking lot, updating a fire hydrant, new storm and sewer lines, new catch basins and a new garbage bin enclosure,” says a City of Vernon release.
The parking stall layout is being realigned and re-painted to increase parking capacity as part of the $439,000 project.
The sidewalks at the rear of the Recreation Centre were enlarged to make it easier for groups to load in and out for events.
