Bogus Cops For Kids Calls

Aug 11, 2017 | 4:10 PM

RCMP are advising the public to ask questions if they get phone calls claiming to be fundraising for the Cops for Kids charity.

Police say some people have been getting aggressive and high pressure calls, seeking credit card donations.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says that charity doesn’t use any type of fundraising through cold calls, but money is raised by team members that take part in the event in September.

“The public should be advised that the RCMP does not engage in telephone solicitations of any kind to raise funds,” says the corporal.

Moskaluk says the public should be vigilant and should question those collecting funds for any cause.

Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation raise funds throughout the year to support ongoing requests from families in medical, physical or traumatic crisis within South Eastern BC.
