Aug 9, 2017 | 10:24 AM

Canada Mortgage and Housing says there were 31 new homes started in Vernon in July.

That number is similar to the 32 in July 2016, but the year-to-date stats are down.

Construction has started on 177 new homes in 2017, 46 fewer than this point last year.

About 65 percent of the new homes being built this year (115) are single family detached.

Twenty-six are semi detached, 22 are row, and 14 are apartments.

In BC, there was 3,920 housing starts in July, up 19% from a year ago.
