Infrastructure Improvements For Salmon Arm Drive In Enderby

Aug 9, 2017 | 9:32 AM

Salmon Arm Drive in Enderby is in for major infrastructure work.

Council has green lighted a contract worth 2.7 million dollars to Mountain Side Earthworks.

Mayor Greg McCune says storm drainage is the main work.

“There’s no storm drainage at all there. If there is, it’s just a pipe that runs under the road to somebody`s grassy front lawn across the street.”

McCune says it’s an important road to the community and upgrades have been a long time coming with infrastructure that’s many many years old.

“So, the water will be upgraded. There will be some sewer work done. There will be some storm drainage. Right now, the road was actually built like the storm drain. So they would slope the corners the wrong way.”

The area is seen as having strong potential for residential growth.

“We’ve had some development requests in the last couple of years that were both turned down due to the fire flow ratings and just not the protection that would be needed to do those developments.”

There is already an 11 lot subdivision being built above the area.

McCune says the contractor wants to start the project this fall and have it completed by the spring of 2018.
