Hydro Relocating Poles At Kal Road Project

Aug 8, 2017 | 5:53 AM

BC Hydro starts to relocate power poles on Kal Lake Road between Browne Road and the Alpine Centre today.

It’s part of the city’s project to add a multi use path along the road.

City spokesperson Tanya Laing Gahr says there may be minor delays.

“When you’re moving the hydro poles around there’s sometimes going to be lane closures or single lane alternating traffic, but we do hope
that the impact to the driving public is minimal.”

Due to time constraints, the total road closure for that portion has been put off until next spring.

It’s not clear how that will impact the budget for the project.

“At this point we haven’t determined what the added costs will be. We do anticipate that of course every time you delay a project there are some costs. but we haven’t determined what those total costs will be yet.”

The original projection was about 4 million dollars.
