Chamber GM Steps Down

Apr 27, 2017 | 5:05 PM

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new general manager.

After three years in the position, Dan Rogers will be leaving in June to pursue other opportunities.

The Chamber board has started a working group to select a replacement.

“Although saddened by Dan’s departure, we feel confident as a board that the work Dan has done in building a solid foundation along with our strong strategic vision, positions us well to transition to a new GM,” says Dauna Kennedy Grant, chamber president. “We want to thank Dan for his work and appreciate that he will be staying with us at least until June to assist in the transition.”

Rogers had mixed emotions in providing notice.

“I’m humbled by the support I’ve received from the board and in the community during my tenure as GM,” says Rogers. “The entire organization has worked hard to re-engage with members and re-energize the organization and I have no doubt it will continue to play a valuable role in creating a positive business environment in the North Okanagan. “

Rogers also noted that the Board, staff and volunteers should be proud of their accomplishments over the last several years which have seen the addition of a number of new initiatives like the Top 20 under 40 Program and the Chamber Certified Program.

“The chamber has also significantly increased its advocacy efforts locally and provincially,” adds Rogers.
