New trail map released to emphasize Trail Capital of B.C. designation

A new map outlining the trails throughout Greater Vernon is now available.

Tourism Vernon put out the new map outlining the more than 500 kilometres of trails and pathways where people can walk, hike or ride to emphasize the community’s designation as the Trails Capital of B.C. ahead of the summer tourism rush.

Created in collaboration with the City of Vernon, Tourism Vernon hoped the map would encourage locals and visitors to get outdoors and explore the area, and maybe even find their new favourite location to visit.

“It’s easy to take these experiences for granted when they’re right outside your front door,” said Torrie Silverthorn, Manager for Tourism Vernon.

“One day you can be walking along the lake, and the next you can be exploring alpine meadows or world-class singletrack through deep forest. As the Trails Capital of B.C., we know there’s a trail for everyone. Whether you’re looking to explore somewhere new or show off your favourite local spots, our new printed and interactive trail maps make it easy to get out and explore.”

A new interactive map can be found online, and physical copies can be picked at the Community Services Building, at Vernon City Hall, and at partner businesses across the region.

Tourism Vernon’s Mobile Visitor Services Team will also hand out copies of the trail map at their pop-up booths at the Summer Spectacular at SilverStar Mountain Resort June 27, the Canada Day Celebration at Polson Park July 1, the Performance Festival in downtown Vernon July 18, and the Crankworx Summer Series at SilverStar August 8.
