The Kelowna Art Gallery is opening its doors to the public for Canada Day, offering free admission, hands-on art activities and access to five exhibitions as downtown Kelowna fills with celebrations.

The gallery will be free to enter from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 1, inviting visitors of all ages to drop in, explore and take part in interactive creative stations throughout the building.

Organizers say the day is designed to be flexible and family-friendly, with visitors able to move between outdoor and indoor spaces while experiencing both art and hands-on creation.

Three maker stations will be set up for the day, including a passport-themed portrait activity on the patio, a flag-making station inside the building and a weaving space where visitors can try working on a loom. Gallery staff say Canada Day has become one of the busiest and most welcoming days of the year, as downtown crowds spill in from nearby festivities at Waterfront Park and surrounding areas.
