Local Mayoral candidate also running for MLA seat
A long-time local politician is hoping to secure a provincial seat, and is willing to lose his position in local government to fill it.
Kevin Acton is running as the Conservative Party of B.C. candidate for Vernon-Lumby in the provincial election.
Acton has been Mayor of Lumby for four terms, since being first elected in 2011, and in the 2024 provincial election tried to earn the Conservative nomination. After being passed over he instead ran as an Independent.
“Last time it was tough on us, we did out own thing thinking we had some momentum going with all of the Independents running in the province,” Acton told Vernon Matters.
