Enderby Mural Will Stay As Is
It looks like a large mural on the side of the Enderby City Hall will remain in place for years to come.
Council has decided to leave the artwork as it was originally painted and not change it for a Canada 150 theme.
Mayor Greg McCune says there are many other buildings and locations in the community a Canada 150 tribute could end up on.
“There’s probably other places in town that their art could do if they get around to that.”
The current mural depicts a play that was performed in the community in 1999. Council has asked people associated with that play if they would like to resurrect it for this summer’s 150th celebrations.
“We had a nice letter from a lady who actually suggested that we actually kind of redo the play itself, so we sent a note back to them to fly at it if they choose. That would be kind of interesting.”
A Canada 150 memorial could still be designed and presented on another building somewhere else in the city.
“Yes, absolutely, we are always looking at that, so yes definitely there will be some options there. As people come and the ideas flow around the community, we will try to figure that out.”
