Stores Robbed On Back To Back Nights

Mar 20, 2017 | 11:00 AM

RCMP say there are a number of similarities between robberies on back to back nights in Vernon.

The Dollar Tree on 43rd Avenue was targeted last Thursday night around 9 pm.

“He demanded money and took an undisclosed amount of it before fleeing westbound on 43rd Avenue. RCMP were in the area searching for the male within minutes but were unable to find anything.”

Cst. Jocelyn Noseworthy says the man didn’t produce a weapon, and pulled him shirt over his face.

And then on Friday night, around 9:45 pm, the Subway on 27th Street — which is about a block away — had a man enter the store, demanding money.

He grabbed some cash, put in it a bag, and fled on foot.

He is described as Caucasian, about 5 foot 9 to 5-10, and police say the same man may have been involved in both incidents.

“He was wearing a black winter jacket, gloves and had a black duffle bag,” says Noseworthy.

Noseworthy says one one was injured in either incident.
