Update: Okanagan Avenue Debris Closure

Update 5 pm:

The City of Vernon says Okanagan Avenue in the affected area has now been cleared and reopened.

Last night’s heavy rainfall and snow melt has resulted in some debris on the hillside above Okanagan Avenue here in Vernon spilling down onto the roadway below.

As a result, Okanagan Avenue is currently closed from Fulton Road to South Vernon Drive.

City crews are conducting repairs and it’s expected the road will re-open to traffic by the end of the day.
