Update: 4 pm March 15:

Fire investigators are estimating up to 35-thousand dollars damage from a structure fire Tuesday on Anderson Way.

The blaze started in the floor joist area of a storage building with living area above, located behind City Furniture.

Fire-Rescue Deputy Chief Jack Blair says the cause did not appear to be suspicious and may have been an electrical short.

Update: 5 am March 15:

Vernon Fire Rescue was called out to a small blaze around 5 pm Tuesday afternoon behind City Furniture and Kal Tire on Anderson Way.

A two story storage building with living area above was damaged when the fire started in the floor joist area and extended up into the attic.

“Cause unknown at this time. Investigation will be done in the morning,” says Deputy Fire Chief Jack Blair.

There were no injuries.

Blair says another call Tuesday evening to Sunset Properties at 9150 Sunset Road was just smoke from an air exchanger malfunction, with no fire damage.
