NDP Choose Candidate

Vernon-Monashee NDP members have voted teacher Barry Dorval to run in the May 9th provincial election.

Dorval defeated Harwinder Sandhu in voting at Sunday’s nominating meeting.

Dorval has been a teacher in Vernon for the past 17 years and was President of the Vernon Teachers’ Association for four years.

He told members at the meeting it’s time to give people something to vote for rather than vote against, referring to the Christy Clark Liberals as a “mean-spirited anti-education government.”

Dorval says his issues go far beyond education, citing health care, improved seniors care, poverty and climate change.

He says with the NDP, people can expect economic policies that benefit regular British Columbians and support local businesses.

The other Vernon-Monashee candidates are Liberal incumbent Eric Foster, the Green Party’s Keli Westgate, and Libertarian Don Jefcoat.
