Travel Not Recommended in Mountain Passes

Travel in the high mountain passes in the southern interior is not recommended today.

Up to 20 cm. of snow fell last night and there is snowfall warnings this morning for the Coquihalla, Allison and Kootenay passes for Highway 3 with another 10 cm. expected today.

Motorists are advised to consider alternate travel plans or to expect delays as crews work to clear roads of the heavy snowfall.

The Trans Canada Highway will be closed in both directions this afternoon (Friday) from 4 – 6 p.m. for avalanche control west of Revelstoke.
