House Fire Cause Undetermined

Mar 9, 2017 | 4:00 PM

A house fire Monday night on Vernon’s Pheasant Road in the BX has been ruled a total loss.

The blaze that started about 6:30 p.m. that night left a family of five homeless, destroying their home and five vehicles.

BX-Swan Lake Fire Chief Bill Wacey says there was no way to determine an exact cause.

“Probably it’s going to be cause undetermined, accidental but cause undetermined. We have some ideas but there’s nothing to prove because the devastation was too much.”

Wacey says they believe it started in the laundry area downstairs where the homeowner couldn’t even pinpoint any possible issue.

“He certainly was at a loss of how, what, or where in there could have gone up, or would have been any cause of anything. You can always speculate that it might have been something electrical, but at the end of the day it’s going to end up being undetermined.”

Fortunately the family did have insurance coverage.
