Update: Fire on Pheasant Road

Mar 7, 2017 | 5:58 AM

A family of five is homeless after fire destroyed their home on Pheasant Road in the BX Monday night.

The BX-Swan Lake Fire department and Coldstream both responded, but the house was completely in flames when crews got on scene.

BX Fire Chief Bill Wacey says the family was eating supper with a friend when the fire began.

“They were upstairs eating, they smelled smoke, went downstairs into the basement laundry room area. They opened up the door and there was a wall of flame inside,” says Wacey.

The house is destroyed and being torn down today….five vehicles in the garage were also destroyed.

The family is insured.

“They barely just got out. It was extremely unusual for how fast this fire took off. They got out just in time, lost everything,” adds Wacey.

The cause is still under investigation, but Wacey says it was not suspicious.

“The house is basically destroyed so it’s going to be a bit of a struggle.”
