More Mailboxes Targeted
If you get your mail from a community mailbox, police are advising you check and empty it regularly.
That after eight more of the Canada Post facilities were broken into overnight on March 2 in areas of Vernon, Coldstream and Lumby.
The locations were Whitevale Road and Kerby Road in Lumby, Palmer Road and Tronson Road in Vernon, and Highway 6 and Coltland Place in Coldstream.
Cst. Jocelyn Noseworthy says it may be linked to similar incidents the past few weeks.
“Community mailboxes are put into areas that don’t interfere with residences, but it also means it’s harder to see someone breaking into them in the middle of the night,” says Noseworthy.
Officers are still investigating what may have been stolen.
“Who knows what’s in everyone’s personal mailbox, so people will wait for a few weeks for their passport or driver’s license that they are expecting, and then when it doesn’t show up, they realize it’s been taken,” adds Noseworthy.

On March 5th, 2017 a red unplated 1991 Ford Ranger pickup was left in the parking lot of Bill’s New and Used Consignments on Westside Rd because it needed repairs.
At approximately 11:45 AM a Caucasian male in his 20s with short black hair, wearing a black winter jacket, was seen walking into the parking lot. He put a new tire on the truck, then drove away in it.

On March 4th, 2017, Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP were notified that on March 3rd, at approximately 6:30 PM, a tradesman had his toolbox stolen from a worksite in the 2900 block of 33rd St in Vernon.
The toolbox was a black and orange Black and Decker box. The contents were a variety of hand tools, all of which have the initials “M.J.” engraved on them. The estimated value of the contents is between $400- $500.

On March 6th, 2017 at approximately 4:00 AM a red 2000 two door Honda Civic with BC licence plate EB913W was stolen from a driveway of a residence in the 2500 block of 30th Ave in Vernon.
